Corporate Controller - Construction

We perform engineering specification design/development and the construction of large utility infrastructure projects in the electricity, telephone, oil & gas, water, sewer, storm drain markets. We are headquartered in Los Angeles with business units in LA, Riverside, San Diego, and Ventura performing work throughout California.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Corporate Controller position in our Meruelo Enterprises business unit located in Downey. This position will report to the Corporate Chief Financial Officer.
Key roles and responsibilities will include:
Supervising the accounting functions for 5 construction companies
Managing fixed assets, inter-company accounting and job cost accounting
Reviewing/performing reconciliations as part of the closing process
Compiling WIP (work in process) financial reports and job costing analysis
Preparing journal entries and perform the financial closing
Supporting business unit/corporate requests and performing financial analysis of the company
Leading annual external audit
Treasury functions and cash management
Assisting CFO with forecasting, budgeting, audits, financial analysis and special projects as needed
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Bachelors degree in accounting
Accounting certification such as CPA
10 years of construction industry experience (including strong knowledge of percentage of completion accounting methodology)
Demonstrated experience running multiple subsidiaries
Demonstrated experience leading annual audits
Experience with Spectrum accounting software preferred
SKILLS
Good teaming skills and ability to work with our other construction and engineering divisions
Good communication skills
Willingness to travel
