The North American Communications Manager supports NIKE's Jordan brand communications across multiple key sport and lifestyle categories. The position is critical to the day-to-day management and execution of a dynamic communications organization that works under the timelines of global news cycles. The position supports the development of long-term communications strategies and helps maintain the overall consistency of global storytelling.

The position requires a candidate able to establish and strengthen authentic connections through the lens of innovation and sport. A candidate that can connect, influence and deliver new levels of creative and strategic thinking.

The position will play a key role in developing and driving communications to support both business and brand objectives. It will help provide strategic vision during the integrated marketing process to positively affect marketing plans, contribute regularly to management discussions and planning about brand development and marketing communications.

The position will be responsible for developing and maintaining strong working relationships with numerous internal stakeholders to create assets and tools to communicate the brand message. It will also provide ongoing counsel and media landscape insight to the function. Therefore an ability to drive media relations strategy and best practice is essential.

It will work closely on issues management, messaging and media management strategy. The candidate therefore requires strong experience in reputation and issues management, combined with excellent writing skills. The position will also work closely with Jordan executives and selected spokespeople to train and prepare them for external communications.

As a key member of the North America Marketing Team, the successful candidate will work directly with the marketing managers in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles to ensure overall consistency and maximization of North American Marketing efforts.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree (minimum) in journalism, English, design, communications, business, or related field required
5 years
professional experience in high profile corporate communications or public relations roles supporting globally branded organizations, preferably with a connection to high energy brands
Extensive knowledge of print, digital and broadcast mediums
Deep understanding of evolving consumer communications environment and digital landscape
High aptitude for creative thinking balanced against bottom line business needs
On the ground media/PR experience with ability to communicate clearly as a high profile company spokesperson both on and off camera
Ability to work collaboratively with others and develop consensus within diverse groups
Ability to understand challenges or underlying concerns, share ideas, and develop effective responses, or elevate to higher management
Experience communicating to consumers through social and digital channels.
Strong written and spoken English required
Knowledge of footwear or apparel industry is preferred
Engrained passion for sport is essentialEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
