Primary mission, to protect U.S. Navy property and critical national strategic warfighting assets (deployable combat units such as ships, submarines, and aircraft) from hazards including, but not limited to, acts of terrorism, sabotage, espionage, trespass, theft, fire and accidental or willful damage and destruction.

Selectee is required to participate in the Department of Defense direct deposit of pay program.

This position requires access to firearms or ammunition. INVESTIGATION OF FITNESS: A character investigation may be conducted on applicants selected for employment. The purpose of such an investigation is to secure evidence of the candidate's honesty, integrity, general character, and loyalty to the U.S Government. Such investigations will be conducted under the security requirements of the hiring agency.
Must successfully attend and graduate from the established 4 week Navy Security Guard Training Course consisting of various subjects pertaining to vehicle entry / access control, building security checks, Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) monitoring, and other security related duties.
Must successfully pass the basic training academy and required annual sustainment training, including Non-Lethal Weapons training, firearms training, first aid / CPR and approved physical agility /readiness test.
Work requires application of the appropriate Rules Of Engagement and Rules for Use of Force, to include deadly force, based on the determination of hostile intent. Identify the conditions involved and decides what action to take and apply the level of force required, to include deadly force.
Must be able to understand and to apply directed Force Protection Condition. This duty includes the responsibility for the application and performance of Random Antiterrorism Measures, to include but not limited to, integration of Military Working Dogs at Entry Control Points, surveillance detection, over watch, and crew-served weapon deployment, 100% ID card checks, hands-on ID verification, serpentine barriers and / or other traffic calming devices, etc.
Work may include assignment to first, second, third or rotating shifts to include weekends and holidays. Call back and emergency overtime may be requirements of this position.
Must successfully pass (no felony convictions) an initial criminal background check and annual review.
Required to successfully complete a periodic physical abilities test and must routinely participate in defensive tactics, handcuffing and firearms qualification requiring physical stamina and agility.
Required to wear a uniform and comply with grooming standards. The incumbent will be required to wear protective clothing such as a ballistic vest, helmet, etc.

Required to render appropriate honors (salute) while manning Entry Control Points.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
