Job Summary
The Shipping & Receiving Clerk will coordinate administrative and operational functions pertaining to the movement of government owned cargo by all modes of transportation within CONUS and OCONUS preparing all necessary documentation for movements.
Principal Accountabilities
(Typical duties include the following, although specific duties vary by assignment or contract.)
Review and validate movement requests to route and book military cargo, equipment and small packages. Provide estimated cost of shipment when requested.
Prepare load plans for cargo to determine the quantity and type of conveyance needed to accomplish equipment movement and submit to the designated government representative for approval.
Provide technical guidance and assistance during the loading, unloading, blocking, bracing and tie-down of vehicles, cargo and equipment.
Identify oversized, hazardous material, and sensitive items by type and quantity.
For hazardous and sensitive loads, verify necessary documentation, marking, labeling and placarding is accomplished prior to shipment.
Document loaded equipment, prepare all related shipping documents and provide to the carrier. Obtain air/water clearance when required.
Perform tracing actions for shipments not delivered by RDD.
Process invoices to verify charges against actual services performed and submit to government representative for approval.
Process inbound freight documentation. Prepare discrepancy reports for mis-consigned/damaged and/or missing shipments. Re-consign shipments and process documentation.
Control government and/or commercial security seals.
Operate radio communication system when required to coordinate operations.
Distribute documentation and maintain files according to appropriate regulations and guidance.
Prepare and submit required reports and statistical data.
Attend training and meetings as required.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge & Skills
Knowledge of shipping and receiving procedures and guidelines as they pertain to cargo movement planning, material transportation and distribution activities.
Ability to perform work of the craft in a rapid and efficient manner under extreme conditions.
Ability to perform work safely under hazardous conditions.
Knowledge of transportation regulations and guidelines.
Knowledge of transportation STAMIS systems.
Ability to work without direct supervision.
Experience & Education
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to qualify and obtain a state driver's license.
A minimum of 1 year experience in a related field is required.
Candidate filling position will require a National Agency Background Check and obtain computer access.
Must be eligible to receive security clearance if required.
Physical Requirements/Working Environment
Majority of work is performed in an office environment. Safety shoes andor gear will be worn in designated areas.
May require lifting items weighting 10-45 lbs.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
