This position is located in the Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Mid-Atlantic, Kittery, Maine. Facilities Management & Sustainment Product Line. NAVFAC, MID-LANT is a regionalized command. Working Conditions : Incumbent normally works in enclosed cab of vehicle being driven. The incumbent may be exposed to bad weather conditions, the possibility of serious injury from the vehicle jackknifing, sudden changes in temperature, while loading and unloading cargo. Drives in all types of traffic and weather and is exposed to the possibility of cuts, bruises, and broken bones as result of accidents while driving or when loading and unloading vehicles. Incumbent operates vehicles in all types of traffic conditions on public roads (or equivalent) and is exposed to danger of serious accidents. Incumbent drives in heavy traffic and at highway speeds over complicated road and interchange systems. Incumbent may be required to haul explosives. Incumbent will be required to work around nuclear material, subject to radiation exposure.
Incumbent may be assigned to work in areas where certain potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present.These agents may include, but are not limited to: fumes, dust, noise, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation, chemicals,etc. To ensure employee safety and health, the command maintains personal protective programs consistent with applicable laws and regulations. These programs include engineering controls, training, work procedures, use of personal protective equipment, and medical surveillance. As part of medical surveillance programs, the incumbent is required to take medical examinations to assess his/her medical qualification for duty involving work with these agents.
