SAIC (Earth City, Missouri office) has an exciting opportunity for a Geographic Information System (GIS) specialist. Physical location will be at Earth City, Missouri.
This is a tremendous part-time opportunity for a key individual to join an industry leader performing important and rewarding work.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The successful candidate will support GIS analysis, including but not limited to on-screen digitizing, map and layer development and other data-related tasks, and report preparation. Duties may also include basic field tasks. Specific tasks will include support of field-based remedial efforts through preparation of work plans and technical report graphics using GIS software and database management. The successful candidate will support a variety of environmental data analysis activities and be able to present this analysis in a graphic format. Basic field activities include data collection and data post-processing. Applicants should demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills and be comfortable working in a team environment.
Responsibilities:
Support analytical and document databases, and perform geospatial data analysis and preparation of figures using GIS.
Qualifications:
Experience:
One to three years of work experience with ESRI ArcGIS applications, preferably in an environmental consulting field. Experience working in the latest version of ArcInfo products. Relevant GIS coursework can satisfy a portion of the work experience.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in an earth science, geography or engineering discipline.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Geographic Information System and database experience
Strong report-writing skills.
Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access).
DESIRED SKILLS:
Familiarity with spatial/3d analysis on varied data types
Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training certification.
