The IT Lead- Architect and Integration, SAP will be a part of the Application Services Supply Chain team at J&J.; He/she will exercise judgment within defined standard practices and procedures to analyze, architect and design solutions for challenging business requirements. Provide technical expertise to design, develop and maintain SAP ECC and APO applications. In addition, provide lead role for day-to-day functional tasks on the onsite and offshore vendor teams and developer support. Provide expertise on architecting and designing complex interfaces with internal and external systems. Interpret functional requirements and be able to assist developers in writing technical specifications according to the requirements. Understand business processes and create solutions addressing the current and future needs of the organization. Enforce design standards, best practices and coding standards within the development team. Ensure relevant J&J; System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) requirements are completed. Provide guidance and feedback on continuous improvement of development standards, quality of code and development process. Provide level 3 support for business critical incidents. Work closely with various functional teams, other technical teams (like SAP PI, SAP BW, Webmethods and Informatica), change control teams and quality control teams to ensure consistent understanding of requirements and solution delivery.
Responsibilities include:
Offshore Technical Coordination 30%. This includes coordinating development activities with onsite and offshore vendor teams for all low to medium complexity items; instructing, directing and checking the work of other developers and measuring vendor performance.
Development / Architect 50%. This individual will be responsible to provide technical design and implementation approaches for new development changes to address business requirements; enforcing development process and standards and providing architectural and design support with complex requirements to onsite and offshore vendor resources. He/she will participate and provide input on change control meetings, be responsible for development effort estimation for development objects, and obtain deep knowledge of the SAP platform as it relates to custom development activities. He/she will be responsible for the Functional Integration of all interfaces - Build and Maintain integration diagrams of all new and existing interfaces to understand how they interlink to the existing overall design. The individual will also conduct technical integration of all new and existing interfaces - Build and Maintain schematics of all existing or new interfaces. He/she will Mentor and coach other developers on the latest technological advances within the current technology used. May assist the operational teams with root cause analyses and solutions to critical production issues. May assist in application performance tuning from a development perspective.
Maintain Development Quality - 20% He/she will be responsible for performing spot check code reviews; responsible for reviewing and approving technical design document; responsible for assisting in continuous improvement of development standards and process; enforce adherence of enterprise architecture standards; enforce the existing development standards and guiding principles; work with other leads and architects to ensure preservation and adaptation of global processes. Other assigned duties as required by job function.
Qualifications
A Bachelors degree is required and a Masters degree is preferred. SAP ABAP Certification is preferred.
A minimum of 6 years of IT experience is required. A minimum of 5
years of SAP ABAP development experience is required. The individual must have solid experience in all or most of these areas: Object Oriented ABAP, iDocs, Proxy, XML, BAPIs, BADIs, user exits, Webdynpro, LSMW, Module Pool, smartforms, sapscripts, workflow & BSPs development. Good experience and solid understanding of ALE framework and configuration is required. Working experience in SAP APO and SAP PI is a plus. Strong technical knowledge in RICEFW objects of SAP ECC (Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Enhancements, Forms and Workflows) is required. Base business support in SAP ECC is a plus. Experience in pharma domain or other highly regulated domains is a plus. Experience providing work effort estimates for development activities is required. Adequate knowledge in project estimation, converting functional requirements into technical design, code review, performance tuning etc. is required.
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously is required. Strong analytical skills to proactively recommend system improvements and solve complex problems are required. Excellent communication skills both verbally and written is required. Must have proven ability to influence/collaborate to get results. Good interpersonal and negotiating skills are desired. Must be a change agent with a high tolerance for ambiguity. Ability to work independently with general supervision demonstrating sound judgment and decision making skills to ensure quality of work meets expected standards is required.
