About the General Motors Mainframe Infrastructure Architecture team:
The Mainframe Infrastructure Architecture team will be a key contributor to GMs plans for data center consolidation and agile processes to meet business demands by the automation of provisioning, orchestration, capacity management, asset management for mainframe IT infrastructure.
About the role:
As part of the Global Infrastructure Engineering and Architecture team, this role is to assist with development of performance management and capacity planning best practices, processes and standards in a fast paced environment of data center consolidation. In addition this job will entail the following:
Assist with development of performance and capacity management best practices, processes and standards
Define and implement integrated Workload Management policy across multiple disparate systems
Participate in the development of performance initiatives
Develop capacity management reporting and guidance
Work with mainframe engineers and architects to ensure alignment of processes
Develop procedures to turn over to mainframe operations on performance management
Review product release documents for relevancy and deployment at GM
Work closely with the OS, Database as well other engineering teams to ensure compliance with performance and capacity management practices
Working with the teams to identify and implement tools to ensure consistently used and identify gaps in tools available with focus on capacity performance analysis and capacity management
Reporting resource utilization to compare provisioned allocation vs utilization, trending and specific drivers
Be level 3 support for mainframe related issues

Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience and expertise implementing capacity planning and performance practices
Expert level proficiency in Workload Management (WLM) constructs and definition
Demonstrated experience and expertise in working with RMF, SMF, third party capacity and performance monitoring and reporting tools.
Effective team player and mentor with ability to initiate and establish solid working relationships with all infrastructure engineering, operations, application development and security teams
Strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills
Preferred
Qualifications:
Demonstrated expertise and experience in variety of performance management and capacity planning tools.
