About the Opportunity:

The Senior System Engineer?s role is to manage and tune in-house computer software systems and network infrastructure to ensure high levels of availability and security of the supported business applications. This individual also participates in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure system provisioning and maintenance that is consistent with company goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.

Essential Job Functions:

Daily Operational Responsibilities- Participate as part of a network team in the rollout and support of all facets of network technologies under the IT Operations Departmental responsibilities. These include -LAN/WAN and SAN networking, VOIP, Integrate new technologies / protocols into existing networks, Collect and interpret packet capture to analyze various protocols for performance and/or troubleshooting, Troubleshoot and remedy performance bottlenecks in the network using performance metrics using capacity management and performance tools to measure trends, and capacity.
-Any degradation in performance is diagnosed to the extent possible. Unresolved network problems must be reported immediately to the IT Director/Corp. VP of IT.
-Implementation of new systems and solutions as needed by and to support the business needs.
-USER SUPPORT: Represents the 3rd line of support for desktops issues and the 1st line of support for server or network related issues. When SSE cannot readily answer technical questions or solve technical problems, their responsibility is to use all available technical resources to discover and relate a solution back to the user.
-Design and Planning Responsibilities- Review the current environment of Windows Server, SQL, VMware, Citrix, 3rd Party. Applications, Storage environments/Systems and advice on required configuration tuning or changes to increase performance & stability. Responsible for researching and recommending upgrades or alternatives where necessary.
-Participate in planning sessions, Develop visual diagrams and project work plans.
-Mentoring- Supervise and/or provide guidance to junior members of the team and the Service Desk team.
-Documentation- Work with the IT Ops team to develop, document, and maintain policies, procedures and associated training plans for system admin and appropriate use.

Job Requirements:
-Strong technical knowledge and experience with Servers, PCs, and operating systems as well as SAN?s and networking equipment.
-Extensive installation and support experience with Windows Server 2008/2012, VMWare and/or Hyper-V, with Storage array configuration, Fiber Channel and iSCSI storage networking.
-Demonstrated technical knowledge of current systems software, TCP/IP protocols and standards, including routing, VLAN?s and firewalls, Active Directory, IIS, SSL VPN?s, MS Exchange, Citrix, Virtualization and Backup technologies.
-Strong knowledge of local area network administration.
-Knowledge, understanding and experience with either Hyper-V, Systems Center 2012 or SharePoint administration a +.
-Certifications a plus.
-College diploma or university degree in the field of computer science and 7 years equivalent work experience or 10 years ?Enterprise IT? experience.
-Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
