Summary:
In this role, you will be trained to work with a proprietary policy administration software tool which you will use to build and modify the User Interface for the rate/quote/issue of new and existing commercial insurance products. Work includes the building/modification of policy transactions and the collection, storage and transmission of data to and from other services. Cross-training in other technologies is planned. Position may be filled in Hunt Valley MD, St Paul MN or Hartford CT and may be filled as an Info Engineer or as Sr. Info Systems Specialist.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND
Responsibilities:
Under general supervision, independently interprets business requirements to develop cost-effective, user-friendly solutions following established best practices and standards. Completes programming/analysis tasks, including estimating, analysis, design, coding, testing, debugging, documentation, implementation of programs and production support. Supports team effort through sharing of technical knowledge with and training others. Keeps project managers informed with timely and accurate information regarding progress and obstacles.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Qualified candidates will have experience in the following:
-Analysis, debugging and problem-resolution.
-Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with peers and customers.
-Effectively handles multiple tasks/assignments and can fully evaluate and estimate new tasks.
-Development/interpretation of business requirements.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Ability to perform system demonstrations and prototype solutions to customers and others
Excellent communication skills
Experience working with Microsoft tools (Powerpoint, Excel, Word, Access)
Ability to quickly learn new technology
Ability to interpret XML
Customer-oriented and understands the customer-s operations
PREFERRED SKILLS/
Experience:
Knowledge of one or more commercial insurance products, including how they are transacted/underwritten and serviced.
Conceptual knowledge of CSS, HTML, and data modeling. Can make decisions based on that knowledge.
Familiarity with service-oriented architecture
Business Knowledge & Partnership
Effectively contributes and communicates with the immediate team, and other internal and external business partners through collaboration. Has a solid understanding of the customer needs and is able to adjust priorities based on changing situations
