JOB SUMMARY
Supporting our National Core Implementation team by identifying, procuring and managing leased fiber contracts, cross connects and collocation assets for the company. Responsibilities include working with Vendors, Sales Engineering, Design, Construction, Network Engineering, Field Operations, Installation and the External Customer during the implementation of assigned projects and execution upon Sales forecasts. Monitor and drive project performance by implementing project management methodology to ensure committed completion dates are met or exceeded. The Fiber Deployment Engineer is responsible for providing complete technical oversight and project management for network expansion projects and require a knowledge of fiber network cabling.
Individual will be working independently and running their own projects. Their main responsibilities will include process, customer, and vendor coordination for their Metro E product and cross connectivity.
TASKS
- Provides project oversight and support for real time analysis, control,
and operation of the Converged Regional Area Network and Commercial
network devices.
- Executes existing test plans in conjunction with Network Engineering teams.
- Interfaces with Network Engineering to maintain the integrity of the
test bed area.
- Creates Letter of Authorization (LOA) documentation for fiber interconnects between customer and company.
-Audit and maintain interconnect information for streamlining future requests/requirements
- Works with vendors on new product releases.
- Maintains consistent records and documentation of all tests and
certifications.
- Keeps the appropriate people informed and aware of the status and
progress of work activities and business issue.
- Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters
of significance.
- Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work
nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge of all functions and related tasks in the area of Fiber deployment.
Strong Sharepoint, Excel, Powerpoint, and Microsoft Project expertise
Ability to develop strong working relationships with peers and project members
Knowledge of network interfaces, architecture, and equipment configurations
Knowledge of broadband products and services
Knowledge of process and project management in a Broadband business
Knowledge of IP network architecture and equipment
Knowledge of fiber activation requirements and procedures

Bonus Technical Abilities: (The following technical background and skills would be a large plus for this role but are not required)
- Build all circuits into National Database for Operational Support.
- Tests and certifies configuration, hardware and new features prior to
deployment to the Converged Regional Area Network and Converged
Commercial Network.
- Provides technical Tier 5 support for network problems and simulation
of network issues.
- Works to ensure that all systems and bug fixes are complete in new
releases.
