Duties & Responsibilities
Able to read, interpret, and apply regulations and guidance to all sections of the clinical laboratory; including microbiology, pathology, clinical laboratory (hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, chemistry), specimen procurement, and transfusion medicine. Knowledge of applicabel CAP, AABB and Joint Commission requirements for accreditation.
Demonstrated problem solving skills, strong organizational and project management skills with close attention to detail. Able to self-direct and work independently with attention to meeting deadlines, effective technical writing skills and demonstrated success in deviation and variance management.
Responsible for the effective impementation and management of the Laboratory Quality Program in conjunction with the laboratory director and technical managers. This will include document management, equipment validation, process validation, internal and external audits, corrective and preventive action, process control and improvement, lot release, and management of non-conforming products.
Review of documents (procedures, process validation, computer validation, equipment validations) prior to execution (in conjunction with laboratory director, laboratory medical director and technical manager) for completion and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Oversee the laboratory safety and competency program. Manage documentation for competency of all laboratory associates in all sections of the laboratory. Works with technical managers to assure all documentation is complete and final to meet regulatory compliance.
Assists laboratory director and technical managers in coordinating external assessments and inspections conducted by CAP, AABB and other regulatory or accreditation authorities.
Participates in and coordinates for all sections of the laboratory continuing education offerings in all sections of the laboratory to improve invididual and organization performance understanding. Creates and maintains an overall understanding of all sections of the laboratory processes.
Oversees and manages all CAP checklist items for the laboratory in coordination with the laboratory director and technical managers. Oversees and manages all proficiency testing for the laboratory in conjunction with the technical managers.
Manages personnel assigned to laboratory quality supervisor, LIS and courier sections of the laboratory.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, Biology, Chemistry or Life Sciences; preferred 3 years of experience of emphasis on quality and process improvement.
