The Human Resources Intern supports all functional areas of HR with a primary focus on benefits administration and wellness. With the guidance of the Total Rewards Administrator, this position is responsible for coordinating and administering key components of the health and wellness program. This person will work with the Total Rewards Administrator and Payroll & HRIS Coordinator to develop efficiencies with new hire and open enrollment benefit processes. Other functions include: preparing correspondence, maintaining files and records, and conducting special projects. Must maintain a high degree of confidentiality and accuracy in respect to all information that is processed throughout the Human Resources Department.
1) Benefits and Wellness- 60%
a. With the guidance and support of the Total Rewards Administrator, coordinates and administers wellness campaigns and updates the Wellness page on Charlie.
b. Assists with coordination and communication of annual health risk assessments and biometric screenings.
c. Assists with 401(k) disclosure notification requirements and mailings to remain in compliance.
d. Assists with streamlining and improving education and communications for the 401(K) plan.
e. Work with Total Rewards Administrator and Payroll & HRIS Coordinator to review new hire benefits process and develop efficiencies.
f. Assists with project research and information gathering based on current benefits and wellness initiatives; ex. FMLA process efficiencies.
g. Under the guidance for the Total Rewards Administrator, assist with research and analysis of benefits related data.
2) Payroll & Compensation Support- 30%
a. Under the direction of the Payroll & HRIS Coordinator, assist with monthly updates to the FTE spreadsheet.
b. With the guidance and support of the Total Rewards Administrator, makes updates to the compensation guidelines.
c. Assists in maintaining personnel files during payroll, new hire, and termination processes.
d. Provides assistance in preparing exit paperwork and maintenance of HR related files for compliance purposes including updating employee photos and badges.
3) Human Resources Support & Administration- 10%
a. Provide administrative support for all areas of HROD as needed.
b. Participate in HR/OD staff meetings.
c. Perform other duties as assigned.
Two semesters of coursework in an accredited college or technical school with declared major in Human Resources or related field preferred.
1-2 years experience working in a professional office setting.
Student in good standing with an accredited post secondary educational institution.
Participation in a student professional organization such as SHRM, ASTD or similar organization preferred.
Proficiency in a variety of computer software applications, (Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, Word, Power Point & Excel).
High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.
Strong attention to detail in establishing priorities completing assignments and projects and meeting deadlines.
Ability to represent a professional image.
Knowledge of office administration procedures.
Excellent spelling, grammar and written communication skills.
Excellent telephone and oral communication skills.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
