JOB PURPOSE:
The Staff Education Coordinator develops, plans and implements education for the MedStar staff including registered nurses, respiratory therapists, paramedics, emergency medical technicians and communication specialists. Supports the quality assurance process by observing for trends and providing education that supports the resolution of issues identified in the QA process.Assists staff who provide customer outreach to identify educational needs and develop appropriate educational offerings.
COMPLEXITY & SUPERVISION
Works with minimal supervision and direction, using discretion and independent judgment when appropriate.Works in speaking arenas and events where ability is required to deal with difficult and unpredictable situations in a professional manner.
TECHNOLOGY/EQUIPMENT USED
MS Office, MS Outlook, Internet, Intranet, computer, mouse, keyboard, monitor, phone, fax, copier, printers, Meditech, and other business specific software.
PHYSICAL, SENSORY, ENVIRONMENTAL
Work is active and requires: frequent lifting and carrying up to 35 lbs., with occasional lifting and carrying to 50lbs. Finger and hand dexterity to adequately handle/manipulate equipment and adequate hearing and visual acuity.
Work requires schedule flexibility for frequent travel to and from educational meetings, researching information and developing training programs that require long hours in front of computer terminals, etc.
Requires public speaking with the ability to function effectively in difficult and sometimes unpredictable situations.
Blood-Borne Pathogen Category II - Employees who may have exposure to blood-borne pathogens during the performance of their job.
QUALIFICATIONS(all areconsideredessentialunlessotherwisenote):
Graduation from an accredited school of Nursing or Respiratory Therapy
Current or eligibility for RNlicensure by the State of Washington
Bachelor''s degree in related field of study
Three years of critical care and/or Emergency experience
Minimum of one (1) year experience in teaching adult learners in the health care profession
Public Speaking experience with ability to function effectively in unpredictable situations
Problem solving skills and ability to exercise independent judgment and seek guidance when appropriate
Proficient in Word processing, keyboarding skills and PowerPoint
PREFERRED
Qualifications:
Master s degree
Proficient in the use of technologies that support distance learningprograms
Professional certification preferred (CFRN, CCRN, RRT)
Instructor status for ACLS, PALS, TNCC and/or BLSWashington or National EMT certification
Previous flight experience
3years of critical care and/or Emergency experiencewithinthe last 5 years with pre-
hospitalexperience
Three (3+) years experience in teaching adult learners in the health care profession
JOB DIMENSIONS:
1.The Staff Education Coordinator, in conjunction with the MedStar Leadership Team plans, initiates and coordinates the staff orientation and on-going education programs using a variety of delivery models including direct instruction, self study, distance learning and hands-on practice.
2.Develop and implement education curriculum as identified through the Quality Assurance process and/or business need.
3.Leads departmental research and actively seeks out research opportunities with the expressed interest of increasing patient care and the operational effectiveness of Northwest MedStar.
4.Serves as a resource person and a role model to the health care community and other disciplines.
5.Assists in the monitoring and collection of quality assurance data. Supports the quality assurance process by observing for trends and providing education that supports the resolution of issues identified in the QA process.
6.Assists other staff who provide customer outreach to identify educational needs and develop appropriate educational offerings.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
