Minimum Qualifications
Requires four years of work experience in property appraisal, assessment, or other property tax-related field. College-level coursework may substitute for up to two years of work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Additional years of work experience in property appraisal and assessment, beyond the required minimum.
Current certification as a North Dakota class I city assessor, county director of tax equalization or licensed or certified real estate appraiser.
Bachelor''s degree in business, pubic administration, education, or related field.
Experience developing course materials and curriculum.
Experience teaching or providing training.
Experience writing newsletters, articles, or reports.

Duties and Tasks
Administer assessment education for North Dakota assessment officials and personnel, including identifying educational needs, arranging for qualified instructors, developing course materials, and presenting course materials.
Develop and update educational and administrative manuals and materials for assessment officials to reflect current laws and best practices.
Monitor and administer assessor certification requirements for assessment officials.
Provide technical assistance to assessment officials, government officials, taxpayers, and others regarding assessment and equalization issues.
Provide appraisal and equalization assistance to the State Board of Equalization.
Prepare newsletters, articles, reports, and memorandums
Provide presentations to assessment officials and others
Summary of Work
This position provides training, education, and technical assistance to assessment officials, prepares property assessments for the State Board of Equalization, and assists in the administration of various property tax-related programs, such as the homestead property tax credit and renter''s property tax refund.
