Assures accurate data acquisition for diagnostic evaluation of patients scheduled for sleep studies.
Consider all available options, makes appropriate age specific (neo, peds, adolescent, adult, geriatric) recommendations.
Monitors patient' comfort and alleviates anxiety during procedures.
Utilizes knowledge of equipment to produce accurate and thorough test results.
Evaluates on-going sleep study and determines if additional monitoring is required.
Assists others in developing job skills and enhancing performance.
Monitors testing supplies and completes supply requisitions as needed.
Regularly updates knowledge of techniques, guidelines and regulations.
Communicates all pertinent information regarding patient's progress and needs to the appropriate individuals. Proficient at scoring polysomnogram recordings and generating reports for physician review.
Completes accurate and timely documentation of all patient care delivered with all required information including patient condition and response following departmental standards.
Identifies patient needs for education and provides patient teaching when applicable through clear and tactful communication with patients and their caregivers.
Assembles equipment, establishes proficiency in all electrode application techniques, performs verification tests and appropriately documents equipment readiness and work accomplished.
Responds to all task or performance related questions patiently and thoroughly, providing context as well as direction.
Requirements:
Education: 2 years beyond HS

Experience: Greater than 2 years

License / Certification / Registration: Registered Polysomnographic Technologist
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
