This position is located within Commander, Navy Region Hawaii (CNRH), Joint Base Pearl Harbor Hickam (JBPHH) Security Department, Operations Division. The position encompasses jurisdictional areas consisting of Navy properites under the control of CNRH. The employee of this position is a Department of the Navy (DoN) Security Guard and shall be a member of a rotating shift responsible for performing all aspects of security and force protection as they pertain to Navy property, facilities, personnel, material and equipment within the CNRH area of responsibility (AOR), assuring compliance with applicable laws and agency rules and regulations.
This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for the position.
Salary will be increased by the applicable cost-of-living allowance (COLA), which is subject to change without notice.

Controlling personnel access by monitoring the identification of individuals entering controlled areas.
Patrolling a prescribed area to check locks, alarms, fences, gates, or other barriers to assure they are secured.
Securing facility perimeters to eliminate unauthorized access.

Incumbent must successfully complete/pass Commander, Navy Installations Command Navy Security Forces Training Course, as well as reoccurring training requirements. This includes Emergency Vehicle Operators Course.
_Physical Demands:_
This work requires, on a regular and recurring basis, considerable and/or strenuous physical exertion such as lifting/dragging heavy objects over 50lbs., crouching or crawling in restrictive areas during inspection activities, defending oneself and others during a physical attack.
_Work Environment:_
Work is performed for the most part outdoors in the heat, cold, rain and wind during the hours of daylight and darkness; with work in or under extremely dangerous conditions. The work environment regularly involves high risk with exposure to potentially dangerous situations or unusual environmental stress which requires a range of safety and other precautions. the incumbent may also work in areas where certain potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present. These agents include, but are not limited to fumes, noise, and heat. Employee will be required to wear personal protective equipment (e.g., protective vest bullet resistant , ballistic helmet, etc.) or other PPE as necessary for the protection of the employee in the performance of his duties.
_REQUIREMENTS:_
Selectee is required to participate in the Department of Defense direct deposit of pay program.

This position is subject to shift work to include: call back, overtime, weekends and holidays. Incumbent is subject to 24 hour recall notification and is required to respond per command policy. May be subject to being interrupted from meals or other work breaks while on duty.
Required to wear a uniform in accordance with Commander, Navy Installations Command directives.
Must be able to use all security/equipment, certify and/or re-certify in the use of defensive baton techniques, watch standing, basic reaction force tactics and communications and obtain other certifications required to accomplish the duties of a security guard.
Required to receive training on the use of oleoresin capsicum (OC) spray (pepper spray) in a controlled training environment, to include the experience of receiving the spray to the facial area.
Required to receive respiratory mask fit testing and training in accordance with Office of the Chief of Naval Operations and Commander, Naval Installations Command Instructions.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
