## Position Description
Introduction:
The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development, located midway between Baltimore and Washington, DC is seeking a System Analyst.
Job
Summary:
Analysis, evaluation and modeling of communications system performance supporting strategic and national command and control missions in peacetime and stressed (wartime) scenarios. Document results in reports/briefings and present results to various military commands.
Duties (Listed in order of importance with the estimated amount of time spent at each task):
1. Analyze and evaluate current and recent past performance of designated communications systems. Compare this data to appropriate operational requirements. Identify performance gaps. Provide detailed, prioritized recommendations to enhance system performance. (40%)
2. Analyze statistical data representing the performance of communications systems. Develop, set up, and run study scenarios using computer simulations and available data. (40%)
3. Document analysis results in formal reports, brief results to various military commands. (20%)

## Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
BS in Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, EE or related field with at least 7 years experience. Experience includes Modeling and Simulation and demonstrated analytic skills. Strong oral and written communications skills. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work independently, and demonstrated ability to work as part of a multi-organizational team.

Qualifications:
MS in Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, EE or related field with at least 10 years of related experience. Strong statistics background, good problem solving skills, military operational communications systems analysis experience, computer programming skills, familiarity with UNIX, LINUX, MATLAB, C, C++, FORTRAN. Knowledge of computer network modeling and attack analysis.
Special Working Conditions Travel, working in closed areas, extended hours : Some travel to sponsor work sites may be required.
Security: Applicant selected will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.
