General Summary
The mission of the Medical Informatics Division (MI) is to support all BCBST business units by conducting analytics/research, and developing tools and processes that improve the outcomes, quality, access to, cost and utilization and management of health care to BCBST members. MI achieves this mission through health services and other types of analytics/research designed to (1) improve clinical practice, (2) improve BCBST's ability to provide access to and deliver high quality, high-value health care, and (3) provide policy makers with the ability to assess the impact of system changes on outcomes, quality, access, cost, and use of health care resources. The candidate chosen for this position will serve as a strategic leader to support future needs for the enterprise.
Duties and Responsibilities
The incumbent will work closely with junior and senior analysts/researchers and business unit staff to support the MI mission through assisting in the following major activities:
Provider Profiling
Network Evaluation
Transparency and Pay for Performance Programs
Clinical Program Evaluation
Research Studies
Population Assessment
Statistical Analysis
Outcomes Assessment
Report and Tool Development
Utilization and Cost Studies
1. Provide junior and senior analysts/researchers with assistance in developing the above-mentioned activities and programs.
2. Be responsible for providing junior and senior analysts/researchers with valid data to support production of reports related to the above-mentioned activities.
3. Produce visual explanations and conduct analytics/research studies related to the above-mentioned activities.
4. Design and conduct administrative claims data extract and programming.
5. Execute descriptive and statistical analysis
6. Create tables and reports
7. Work closely with Researchers and Analysts to identify data issues and solutions to the issues.
8. Complete project analysis documentation according to department standards
## Qualifications
Job Qualifications
Education/Experience
Undergraduate bachelor's degree in any discipline with 8 years working experience in managed care/health care claims/ pharmaceutical claims data is required (student jobs do not qualify), OR Master''s Degree with 6 years experience, OR Ph.D. with 4 years experience is also acceptable.
Quantitative/research discipline preferred but not required (e.g., Biostatistics, Biology, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Quantitative Social Sciences, Information Systems)
Knowledge of and/or experience with SAS (Base, SQL, Enterprise Miner, Guide) or similar experience with programming and/or statistical analysis required
Experience with Predictive Analytics, Predictive Modeling Techniques and/or Statistical Analytics is highly preferred
Experience with Market Analytics and Market Modeling preferred
Experience working with pharmacy data (utilization & pricing) desired
Skills/Certifications
Competent to convert research protocol to programming specification logically and meaningfully
Ability to participate in project design and interpretation with Research Staff
Good writing skills
Must be detail-oriented
Must be able to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical co-workers
Must be able to work in a fast-paced team-oriented environment
Teamwork and leadership qualities are required
As the BCBST Senior Scientist, the incumbent is expected to work as a supervisor of research teams designing and carrying out health-related research, and be able to present research findings and evaluation results to internal and external audiences on a frequent basis. The incumbent will participate in planning and budgeting for their teams efforts and will evaluate the effectiveness of team members in accomplishing divisional goals. Strong encouragement will be given for publication of methodological and substantive papers. The candidate will also be expected to perform grant-funded work as necessary. In addition, the candidate will develop tools for use in business processes and serve as a consultant on research and statistical matters with internal and external customers.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
