Serves as the primary contact for answering statement and billing inquiry calls across the Mayo Clinic Health System. Verifies accuracy of demographic and insurance information to ensure timely and appropriate reimbursement. Assist patients and family members with billing and account questions, including following up with insurance companies and internal departments as needed. Request payments from patient for their out of pocket responsibility. Provide patients with estimated fee quotes, and able to explain insurance terms and regulations to assist patients in understanding their benefits. Assist patients with Mayo Clinic Health Systems Complaint and Grievance process; resolving complaints at first contact whenever possible, or referring complaint to Business Services management or Customer Service based on situation. Ensure all encounters occur in a courteous, professional and confidential manner.
Basic
Qualifications:
Basic accounting knowledge (understanding of debits and credits). Two years of customer service experience required, phone experience preferred.Knowledge of insurance, billing terms, CPT and ICD 9 codes strongly preferred.

Ability to read and communicate effectively in English. Advanced computer and office equipment knowledge, including windows based programs. Detail oriented, strong organizational skills, and ability to multitask in a fast paced environment. Consistently pleasant and helpful with strong customer service skills. Ability to remain calm and defuse difficult situations. Ability to work individually, and as a member of a team. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to be flexible with changing priorities, work volume, procedures, and variety of tasks.

Hours/Pay Period:Half Time: 56 hours every 2 weeks
Schedule Details:Monday- Friday between 8am-5pm
Weekend Schedule:
Compensation Detail:Education, experience, and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. The minimum pay rate is $13.26 per hour
