Project Controller

The Project Controller works with IT Project Managers to manage all aspects of project finances for assigned portfolio within North America Group IT, including capital requests, time reporting, vendor payments, project rolling estimates, and other financial reporting.

Key Duties/
Responsibilities:

The Project Controller's key duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Prepare monthly rolling estimates for projects
Reconcile project financial data in Planview against SAP data
Assist Project Managers to develop and maintain project resource plans
Assist Project Managers with preparation of capital authorization requests and monitor status of request approvals
Work with Project Managers to ensure that project costs are properly categorized as either capital expenses or operating expenses
Ensure that new project resources are properly set up in Planview with the correct department and bill rate
Assist Project Managers with requesting, managing and closing purchase orders
Process good receipts and invoices for project vendors in accordance with GAAP and standard company processes
Communicate with Project Managers to ensure that resource timesheets are approved by weekly deadline
Communicate with project vendors regarding invoicing, purchase orders and time reporting
Assist Project Managers with timely submission of proposed vendor contracts to Procurement
Prepare monthly accruals and journal vouchers to reclass costs that posted incorrectly to the project budget
Interact with Accounts Payable to resolve invoice payment or purchase order issues
Prepare analyses of project financials for IT Directors and create ad hoc reports as requested


Competencies and Skills:

Strong communication skills; ability to clearly communicate technical terms/tools in non-technical language; ability to explain project financial processes to non-financial personnel
Ability to manage time and set priorities in order to complete deliverables in timely manner
Ability to analyze financial data and investigate variances
Ability to interact effectively with leadership
Ability to determine when areas of financial risk need to be escalated to leadership
Detail-oriented
Knowledge of project financial reporting and rolling estimate preparation
Solid understanding of capital expenses versus operating expenses
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel required (vlookups and pivot tables are essential)
Solid understanding of accounts payable and general ledger functions (purchase orders, goods receipts, accruals, general ledger reports, etc.)

Education:

Bachelor?s Degree in Accounting, Finance, IT or related field

Experience:

One to two years' experience performing as a Project Controller or related activities
Experience interacting with leadership
One to two years' experience working with purchase orders
Knowledge of SAP accounts payable and general ledger module required
Knowledge of Planview preferred
Knowledge of IT project life cycle preferred

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
