File Systems & Virtualization Engineer: Design and implement enhancements to the Linux kernel filesystem component. Design and develop distributed file system features across a cluster of storage appliances and hypervisors. Design and implement features and enhancement to an Aries-like transactional storage system called Stasis. Analyze the performance characteristics of a proprietary storage system and the Linux kernel. Identify inefficiencies and bottlenecks. Propose, implement and test fixes. Design and implement hypervisor agents, using native hypervisor APIs and SDKs, to offload functionalities from the storage system. Solve the related distributed system issues. Design and develop host side (guest OS or hypervisor) high value add features including caching, deduplication, network traffic reduction, virtual machine and data management. Implement enhancements of the development infrastructure and base libraries. Develop architecture and design specifications for core components of a proprietary storage system. Ensure the stability and scalability of new features and the interoperability with pre-existing system architecture. Collaborate with other developers to select appropriate design solutions. Create implementation and test plans. Develop software and implement test cases according to these plans. Document installation and operating procedures, best practices, troubleshooting guides and related information. Provide support during the installation process, including technical guidance and troubleshooting for employees and customers as the needs relate to design and development job duties. Works at Tintri Offices in Mountain View, CA.
Qualifications: Position requires a Masters Degree in Computer Science or related field, plus two years of experience as a Systems Engineer or similar IT profession. The position also requires experience with design of distributed file systems, such as Zync or similar system, and algorithm design. Experience with Hypervisor integration and Cloud Services, including experience with virtualized environments and development of hypervisor side agents. Experience in High availability and Checkpointing.
