The Director Philanthropy is responsible for the planning and implementation of major, planned giving, and annual fund programs at MaineGeneral Health. This position is responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major and planned giving donors. Responsible for managing a pool of 150-200 assigned major gift prospects and for systematically moving prospects through the cultivation cycle and successfully soliciting gifts of $1,000 or more to support MaineGeneral. Responsible for meeting established visit and solicitation goals and for meeting established revenue goals.
The Director of Philanthropy works closely with the Vice President for Development and Communications and with the CEO, the Board of Directors, and the Senior Management Team, as well as Directors and Managers of MaineGeneral Health departments and affiliated physicians to further a culture of philanthropy at MaineGeneral Health
Qualifications/Competencies
Bachelor's degree preferred
5 years or more applicable experience, at least 2 years of experience of proven planning or major gifts experience, preferably in health care
Ability and proven track record in soliciting, cultivating and closing major gifts ranging from $1,000 to $1,000,000.
Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skills.
High energy, creativity and an ability to inspire performance and commitment to goals from key volunteers.
Ability to quickly assess the philanthropic community, identify and cultivate new sources of support for the organization.
Ability to think strategically, build relationships and function as a mentor in a team environment
Proficiency in a suite of Microsoft Office applications
Experience with Blackbaud Raiser's Edge preferredEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
