Description
Understand functional business processes and interview end users to determine requirements for data, reports, analyses, metadata, training, service levels, data quality, and performance
Recommend appropriate scope of requirements to BI Team, management, and data owners
Analyse and problem solve issues with current and planned systems as they relate to the integration and management of patient and provider data (for example, review for accuracy in record merge, unmerge processes)
Analyse reports of data duplicates or other errors to provide ongoing appropriate inter-departmental communication and monthly or daily data reports
Monitor for timely and accurate completion of select data elements
Identify, analyse, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
Manage and ensure quality and consistent delivery for EDI Encounter transmissions
Data Capture
In collaboration with others, develop and maintain databases and data systems necessary for projects and department functions
Acquire and abstract primary or secondary data from existing internal or external data sources
In collaboration with others, develop and implement data collection systems and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and data quality
Perform data cleansing, validation and testing
Data Reporting
In collaboration with others, interpret data and develop recommendations based on findings
Develop graphs, reports, and presentations of project results
Perform basic statistical analyses for projects and reports
Create and present quality dashboards, scorecards and cubes
Generate routine and ad hoc reports
Train end-users on self-service capabilities
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Technical expertise regarding data models and database design development. Understanding of XML and SQL, SSIS, and other data modelling and ETL tools
Proficient in reporting technologies such as SSRS, SSAS, Cognos or Business Objects
Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Access, Visio and PowerPoint
Experience using SAS, SPSS, or other statistical packages is desirable for analysing large datasets
Adept at queries and report writing and visualizations
Knowledge of statistics, at least to the degree necessary in order to communicate easily with statisticians
Experience in data mining techniques and procedures and knowing when their use is appropriate
Ability to effectively interpret and analyse data
Experience
Minimum of four (4) years' experience in reporting and analytics such as: key performance measurement, dashboards, user segmentation, test design, modelling and web analytics
Experience with analytics tools
Ability to write basic SQL queries to extract data from databases/ODS
Knowledge and background in data warehousing concepts, design and reporting/analytics
