Collect delinquent accounts for Consumer Loans, Home Equity and Visa. Recommend action needed such as possible repossession or legal on accounts to the Department Managers.
Duties and
Responsibilities:
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required or assigned.
Collect delinquent accounts, over limit & past due credit card accounts and home equity loans that might be delinquent or uninsured.
Prepare miscellaneous reports or forms as needed to complete any action required on an account.
Follow up delinquent accounts with a phone call, letter or skip tracing to determine the reason for the delinquency.
Notify all co-signers or joint owners regarding the status and advise them of their responsibility to pay.
Offset delinquent loans with funds from the members or co-signers share account under the right of offset clause.
Advise members of options before litigation and answer general collection questions.
Refer members to CCCS or their attorney for further options before they file bankruptcy or just refuse to pay.
Make suggestions for legal action or repossession and give to the
manager
to review / approve
Make proper notes on ALL accounts of any contact or action taken.
Secure credit bureau or Accurint reports for assistance in skip tracing.
Maintain confidentiality in all Credit Union and member matters.
Present a positive image of the Credit Union to members through a professional appearance and courteous attitude.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Qualifications and Education:
Excellent oral/written communication skills and telephone manners/techniques.
Ability to use a
computer
, multiple line phone and calculator.
Ability to perform minor math calculations and interpret financial data.
Knowledge of the fundamentals of lending, loan collection concepts and
practices
.
Knowledge of legal aspects of collection, bankruptcy and repossession.
Knowledge of the Fair Debt Collection Act and the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
