Summary:
The primary purpose of this job is to manage multiple new product development projects as assigned via cross functional teams and suppliers. Works with internal customers and suppliers to ensure the timely development of assigned parts within quality requirements, delivery requirements and target price. Serves key Engineering Project Management role including development of project plans, supplier audit & sourcing, price calculation & negotiations, scheduling as well as supplying general technical direction to the suppliers and communicating with internal groups to ensure smooth launch of parts. Manage group team members.
1. Project Management
Is responsible for the coordination of parts development, implementations and performance of engineering activities for multiple assigned projects with suppliers and other departments.
Develops detailed project plans, tactical execution, schedules and cost estimates for each part project.
Provides Management overview and reporting on critical project tasks.
Maintains strong relationship with suppliers, internal and external customers including the Sales Managers to ensure on time program deliverables.
Communicates regularly with upper management regarding the status of current projects, obtains upper management guidance and approval as required.
2. Engineering
Conducts Value engineering for any possible cost savings.
Is responsible for supplier's ISIR review and approval, supplier quality audit and routine MQRS Audit.
Suggests ECR for cost reduction, quality improvement, and lean production.
Reviews PSO and FMEA or assigned project parts.
3. Procurement
Reviews legal documentations such as RFQs, LOIs, Term and Conditions and develops such documentations according to policy.
Is responsible for Parts characteristic analysis, set up procurement policy, and sourcing risk analysis.
Has knowledge of procurement procedures (SR review, issuing RFQ, quotation analysis and supplier selection).
Research potential suppliers and find, develop, coordinate suppliers as necessary.
Does cost analysis for parts, tooling, and any supplier expenses and negotiates price with suppliers.
Provides regular support to Sales, Finance and other departments within the company to ensure project financial objectives are met.
4. Specialized Knowledge
System Knowledge of GMPIMS, MSAPTURN, EDIMS, MPOS, MQIS, MAPS and SAP system
Working knowledge of injection parts, painted parts, passenger safety parts, metal stamping and manufacturing.
5. Other
This job requires frequent travel with possible overnight stays or extended stays and may require overtime.
Other duties required (instructing new
employee
, system localization, Supplier Management Seminar, etc).
Evaluate group members' performances, give direction and guidance.
Report weekly on team members activities to Sr.
manager
/HOD. Participate in regular meetings as necessary.
Create detailed price breakdown for each product and process in system for approval.
Minimum education, skills, and/or experience required:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Applied Science or equivalent experience is required
12 years or more experience in Project Management, Engineering, and Procurement field is required. (In Automotive Industry)
Proficient knowledge of PC software applications including Microsoft Office is required
Must be able to understand 2D/3D drawings and knowledge of design tool is an asset
Experience in Commercial Legal documentations (LOIs, RFQs, etc) is an asset
Negotiation ability is an assetEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
