Summary:
The Database Administrator is responsible for overall availability of databases and associated systems, using currently available commercial enterprise relational database management systems. The Database Administrator effectively uses database replication,security, and availability solutions in designing and implementing Database solutions. Must be able to use platform-specific, as well as enterprise, monitoring tools to provide fault and pre-fault performance notifications. Provides platform-specific performance tuning, installation and configuration guidance and expertise. Monitors and manages back-up and recovery, and capacity planning for all Database Platforms.
Primary Duties and
Responsibilities: includes but not limited to:
o Database Technologies: Utilizes currently available commercial enterprise relational database management systems.
o Database Implementation: Effective use of database replication, security, and availability solutions
o Database Monitoring: Effective use of platform-specific, as well as enterprise, monitoring tools to provide fault and pre-fault
performance notifications.
o Database Management: Provide platform-specific performance tuning, installation and configuration.
o Database Business Continuity: Monitoring and management of back-up and recovery, and capacity planning for all database
Platforms.
o Design: Works with management, peers and vendors to design and implement hardware/software configurations, logical
models, operational management models, and business continuity plans for systems under management.
o Ensures Service Level Objectives are met for areas for which they are responsible.
o Support: Works with management, peers and vendors to provide ongoing monitoring, performance tuning, implementation,
and fault root cause analysis for systems under management.
o Technical Writing: Creation of design, troubleshooting and operational documentation for all systems under management.
Authors and peer-reviews knowledgebase articles documenting fault root causes and their respective resolutions.
o Training: Provides and receives cross-discipline training in order to ensure maximum availability of systems under
management.
o Communications: Communicates effectively verbally, and in written form.
o Carries and responds to off-hours communications device, in order to provide 24x7 support for systems for which they are
responsible.
o Continuous Improvement: Actively pursues opportunities, as an individual and as part of a group, to improve knowledge,
tools and processes for systems under management.
Secondary Duties and
Responsibilities:
o Provides enterprise wide support as needed.
o Responsible for maintaining and enforcing confidentiality and privacy rules pursuant to all applicable regulations.
o Responsible for enforcing the privacy rules pursuant to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996
(HIPAA) as applicable to Mohegan Sun.
o Provides on-call 24/7 production support for designated systems.
o Participates in and complies with Mohegan Sun's Change Management process and methodology.
o Promotes superior customer service.
o Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education and
Qualifications:
o Masters degree in
computer
Science, Engineering, Business or related field.
o One year in a position providing support for enterprise Relational Database Management systems for a corporation of at least
2000 employees and with at least two enterprise database platforms (e.g. Oracle, SQL Server, DB2)
o Demonstrable knowledge of SQL scripting language.
o Ability to obtain and maintain gaming licensure in one or more jurisdictions as required.
OR
o Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or related field.
o Seven years in a position providing support for enterprise Relational Database Management systems for a corporation of at
least 2000 employees and with at least two enterprise database platforms (e.g. Oracle, SQL Server, DB2)
o Demonstrable knowledge of SQL scripting language.
o Ability to obtain and maintain gaming licensure in one or more jurisdictions as required.
Competencies: Incumbent will master the following competencies while in this position:
o Intermediate knowledge of all currently deployed Mohegan Sun RDBMSs.
o Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Visio and other design and documentation tools.
o Knowledge of the Control Objectives for Information and related Technology (COBIT) and the Information Technology
Infrastructure Library (ITIL).
o Knowledge of appropriate regulatory requirements that pertain to area of responsibility and ensuring processes meet the
intent of regulatory statues.
o Proficiency with process improvement and root cause analysis of information systems.
Training Requirements:
o Appropriate Mohegan Sun & MTGA regulations.
o Mohegan Sun corporate and department policies and procedures.
o Mohegan Sun project management process and methodology.
o Mohegan Sun timesheet categories and guidelines.
o Mohegan Sun technical architecture and standards.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
o Requires occasional off-shift work, including late night and early morning hours.
o Ability to travel to remote locations up to 25%.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
