UX Writer, Growth
We're looking for a UX Writer to embed within our Growth product engineering organization to build experiences that engage our users and achieve our mission of creating belonging. As a UX writer focused on growth you will write and refine content from hierarchy to hyphens for a diverse global audience. You will absorb research findings, test our language, advocate for users--all while incorporating the subtle (and sometimes not so subtle) irreverence of our brand. What you'll be doing Report to the manager of UX Writing which sits within the Product Design team, a close-knit part of Discord's EPAD (Engineering, Product, Analytics, and Design) organization Embed in a Growth squad with product designers, engineers, product managers, data scientists, and other cross-functional partners to develop features from concept to launch and beyond Audit areas of our product, contribute to our style guide, and mature the collective writing practice of Product Design; at least one third of your time will be devoted to this practice Be an educator, consultant, and research librarian and help others adopt and use Discord's voice and tone during weekly office hours Support a cross-functional group of writers driving improvements to our internal content management processes What you should have 3
years experience shipping content-heavy projects across a variety of devices and platforms 1
years specializing in the field of UX writing / content strategy / content design Portfolio (and password, if applicable) of writing samples such as:
style and formatting guidelines; specimens of UI text and microcopy, e.g. form labels, placeholders, toasts, error messages, and push notifications; direct or transactional emails; user stories, scenarios, flows, or journeys; user support or technical feature documentation Solid editing and proofreading skills (if the AP Stylebook isn't on your shelf already) and a writing style that can match a company's brand voice Experience with Figma or other prototyping tool Passion for mentoring (and being mentored by) your peers Commitment to diversity, inclusion, and belonging Bonus Points Experience running editorial processes, user interviews, or A/B tests Familiar with curriculum development, learning design, library science, taxonomy, or other specialized content practice Comfortable with, or curious about, editing frontend code Ride or die for the Oxford comma New York City residents only:
