About the Role As the Head of Business Development you will lead commercial efforts at Neochromosome, Inc as we rapidly scale. Working with the executive team, you will source, evaluate, and advance prospective opportunities through the pipeline. Your role will require a versatile skill-set, including strong capabilities in analysis and communication, as well as initiative and creative thinking. As a great fit for the BD Lead, you excel at scouting and building out business cases for prospective opportunities. You are passionate about Neochromosome's mission to unlock the potential of genome-scale synthetic biology. Responsibilities Lead business development for key market verticals Assess market landscape and develop business case for new market applications Drive critical thinking and action throughout full deal lifecycle, from opportunity assessment and diligence to partner negotiation and deal implementation Interface with scientific and product teams to build and execute business plans Build financial models to facilitate deal development and structuring Lead growth of business operations, refining organizational feedback loops to resolve business, technical, and contractual issues Travel as necessary Desired Experience and Capabilities PhD in molecular biology, microbiology, chemistry, biophysics, biotechnology, biochemistry, chemical engineering or related scientific or technical field, or equivalent experience 5-10 years of experience in Business Development in biopharma (VP level and higher) with a focus on biologics Experience in all aspects of the biotech/biopharma sales cycle, with first-hand leadership on early (sourcing/selling vision) and late (negotiating deal structure/closing) stages of cycle. M&A experience a bonus. Experience in- and out-licensing assets Experience in landscaping and competitive analysis with specific examples of how efforts here led to new value in company Strong analytical and financial modeling skills Deep personal network across biopharma. Ability to communicate complex ideas eloquently (written and verbal), motivated by making complex ideas succinct and simple to understand Scientifically and technically motivated, with a proven ability to tightly interface with scientists to advance deals through the pipeline Well-organized and detail-oriented, with a keen ability to multitask Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment and work across organization boundaries Ability to develop compelling, fact-based and informed opinions Comfortable with the unknown and taking risks (e.g. has drafted a term sheet from scratch rather than asking opposing counsel to do this; has interacted with scientists/inventors who may not have the answer to every question about the technology; motivated to work in a company that is currently biopharma adjacent)
Salary Range:
$80K -- $100K
Minimum Qualification
Business DevelopmentEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
