Purchasing Assistant - Direct Hire

Volt is seeking a Purchasing Assistant to help maintain supply inventory levels and negotiate with potential/current vendors.
The Purchasing Assistant will be responsible for learning company purchasing policies and procedures, and maintaining supply inventory levels required for effective company operation.
The successful candidate will also conduct regular price comparisons to ensure that the company is always getting the best price for each product that is purchased and maintain inventory.
JOB
Responsibilities:
1.
Advises staff and/or faculty as to appropriate choices of foundry materials to be purchased for office, maintenance supplies and foundry material.
2.
Selects vendors, places orders, and may arrange for service contract.
3.
Review purchasing agreements with vendors and maintain open lines of communications with vendors.
4.
Follow up on orders to ensure that materials are shipped and delivered on promised dates and expedited as needed.
5.
Compare product deliveries with issued purchase orders and contact vendors when there are discrepancies.
Maintain vendor corrective log to return bad or damaged materials.
6.
Maintains records and follow up of purchases, shipments, and related matters to deliveries.
7.
Stay up to date with industry trends and establish long-term purchasing relationships with vendors.
8.
Develop an active process for measuring supply inventory and determining purchasing needs.
9.
May inspect products received for quality and quantity to ensure adherence to specifications.
10.
Maintain strong working relationships with our vendors.
11.
Performs related job duties as required.
12.
Experience with the copper and metal market a plus.
REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma/GED required, data processing school training beyond high school or equivalent experience.
(Associate degree or higher preferred) 3
years' experience in a purchasing role and/or information technology role (IT) Excellent communication, negotiation, and grammar skills.
Proficient knowledge of MS Excel, OUTLOOK, Purchase Order Database, and Microsoft Applications.
Knowledge of copper and metal market.
Proven history of effective supply management and procedures.
Able to create and administer a task priority list based on company needs.
Proven history of effective supply management, inventory control and negotiation skills.
Able to adapt to purchasing software Must be able to multitask in a fast paced environment.
Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus.
Previous foundry, casting or metal market purchasing experience preferred.
