Estimator - Telecom
Overview
Henkels & McCoy, Inc., one of the largest privately held international utility contracting firms, with offices in 80 cities and celebrating 90 years of operating with a reputation as one of the most reliable and innovative firms in engineering and construction, is currently seeking an Estimator for the Batavia, IL office for the Telecom group. The overall responsibility for this position is the preparation of complete estimates for assigned projects.
Major Job Elements
Review and incorporate historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc. into unit and man-hour figures.
Review proposal specifications/drawings and attend pre-bid meetings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
Prepare estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work.
Coordinate total estimating effort for all assigned projects.
Maintain files of working documents as back-ups for estimate figures. Follow awarded contracts as assigned - may include estimating extra work items, change orders, credits; procuring material, etc.
May review design options and recommend best solutions based on cost, engineering quality, or availability of materials.
Qualifications
Four year engineering/construction management degree or equivalent combination of technical training and experience required.
Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
Experience with Primavera, P6 is a plus.
Experience in estimating, cost control and/or engineering experience related to transmission and/or substation construction.
Advanced knowledge of estimating techniques and cost control, plus the ability to interpret computerized cost data and systems is essential.
