A Registration Specialist working on the UPHSM team is an essential position for creating efficient and timely patient flow. You perform all pre-registration and registration functions, insurance verification, and printing and distribution of paperwork of patient labels to nursing care units. You will be tasked with privately identifying and referring patients who may have financial difficulties managing payments for the hospital. You will enjoy working in a dynamic environment and will focus on a variety of tasks and the details that come with them.
Each patient is unique, so being able to interact with many different types of people will be important for your success. You will be joining a cohesive team of individuals with many different skillsets which can provide you the opportunity to learn and grow. The fast paced workplace that is afforded by a hospital setting will keep you on your toes and the ever changing situations you will encounter will guarantee that there is never a dull moment.

The use of basic office equipment will be important for your success, this includes the use of computers, fax machines, copiers, etc.
Specialists will be able to exhibit stellar customer service to our patients.
An ideal candidate will be able to adapt quickly to change and handle multiple tasks at once.
Moderate physical effort may be required including lifting 25 pounds or more, prolonged standing and walking, and manual dexterity.

Minimum Education/
Experience:
High school graduate or equivalent
Minimum Experience
1 year of clerical experience
Preferred
Experience:
1-2 years in a healthcare setting
Knowledge of medical terminology
CPT, ICD-9, or HCPCS experience
