Summary:
The Meter Reader works with minimal supervision to perform field operations and handle customer service requirements in the Los Altos District. The meter reader may require a significant amount of walking. The position is located in Los Altos, CA.
Essential Functions:
Read meters of all sizes.
Record meter and service repair requirements and make necessary repairs as required.
Designate account numbers for new services.
Recheck meter readings and replace covers.
Replace covers and report hazards as needed.
Complete necessary paperwork.
Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION:
State Water Resources Control Board Water Distribution Operator Grade II Certification
Water utility experience preferred.
Must be available for call outs, evenings, holidays & weekends.
Must live within 45 minutes of the district office.
Valid driver's license and good driving record required

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
