Senior Staff Accountant
Overview & Essential Job Functions
Position
Summary:
The Senior Staff Accountant reports directly to the Assistant Controller and is responsible for financial reporting, general accounting activity related to the month-end closing process, variance analysis, annual audit, and related duties as assigned.
Essential Job Functions:
Month-end financial reporting.
Monthly and annual financial closing process.
GL Account reconciliation and analysis.
Prepare and approve journal entries.
Assist in the development of management reporting.
Assist in various projects that include but not limited to acquisitions, software conversions, writing and implementing new policies and procedures.
Interact with other department personnel to improve processes.
Conduct research and prepare summary reports.
Assist in annual audit.
Develop annual budgets and reconciliation of variances.
Work directly with operational management on production and presentation of monthly results.
Qualifications & Environmental Demands
Required
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting and/or finance.
3 - 5 years of experience in an accounting or finance role.
Proven senior accounting experience.
Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures and principles.
Awareness of business trends.
Experience with creating financial statements.
Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.
Excellent accounting software user and administration skills.
Accuracy and attention to detail.
Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.

Master's Degree
Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
Waste industry experience
