Post Anesthesia Recovery (PACU)
The PACU is staffed by RNs, who are required to be ACLS, BLS and PALS certified. BSN is encouraged.
The primary duty of this group of nurses is to care for the patients as they emerge from anesthesia. Typically the nurse patient ratio is 1:2. Critical care background is very helpful. Their primary responsibilities are to work to assure;
Patient vital signs return to within their pre-procedure normal range
Patient pain is under control
Patient is alert
Patient is able to maintain an adequate O2 saturation
Patient is able to move extremities
To provide safe, accurate patient handoff
Position
Qualifications:
We require a nursing degree from an accredited school.
You'll also need a current RN license in our state.
Basic life support training required, through the American Heart Association.
