Environmental Service Worker

GENERAL
Summary:
Maintains established standards of cleanliness at the Medical Center that impacts the overall infection control, cleanliness, and appearance. Provides service to both internal and external customers that enhance professional medical and technical services and positive community relations to the community.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs all cleaning functions involved in daily general cleaning and maintaining of patient rooms, operating rooms and ancillary areas, patient related areas, and departmental general areas following the seven steps of cleaning as defined in the Environmental Services Department Manual.
Records discharge transactions according to current established policy. Performs all cleaning functions involved in the transfer and discharge including, but not limited to, making beds.
Maintains cleanliness of all equipment and promptly reports safety concerns or damage of equipment to supervisor. In the case of surgery, notifies the Surgery Manager within an appropriate time frame. Records all necessary repairs by initiating a Plant Operations/Environmental Services work order.
Demonstrates the knowledge and the skills necessary to provide the care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned unit.
Demonstrates the knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span, and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status. Includes being able to interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to the patient's age-specific needs.
Provides the care needed as described in the units/department's policies and procedures, as well as in the clinical competency checklist for the position and patient age group.
Documents and maintains records of assigned cleaning tasks.
Works with Surgery Manager, Risk Management, and Environmental Services to determine appropriate cleaning supplies and methods of cleaning.
Actively participates in organizational development programs and encourages staff participation throughout the department.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Education/Certification/Registration
High School Diploma or Equivalent - Preferred
Minimum Experience
1 to 2 Years Experience- Preferred

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
