The Southern California News Group is seeking talented designers/editors to work in its Monrovia content center.
Designers on our team are responsible for producing dynamic pages and writing great headlines for 11 daily publications. Our designers create sophisticated visual journalism and have the ability to design off a concept. Excellent communication is vital as our editors are a bridge from the content center and assignment desk editors at multiple newsrooms. Ours is a fast-paced and highly productive environment in which page designers and editors are often called upon to work on different publications simultaneously, juggling priorities under daily deadline pressure. Our designers are wordsmiths, writing their own headlines and photo captions.

Thorough knowledge of design principles and experience with news are musts.
A good candidate is creative and resourceful and recognizes that good design is content in and of itself.
Our designers are also expected to develop sophisticated presentations from concept to execution.
Must be strong headline writer both for print and social media
Must possess the ability to work independently and proactively with other editors and reporters
The right candidate has excellent news judgment, is a strong copy editor and works well under daily deadline pressure.
Knowledge of InDesign is a must.
Job requires working nights and possibly weekends

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
