Transportation Supervisor
Purpose
Responsible for all warehouses to store deliveries and private fleet inbound freight coordination in compliance with SAVE-A-LOT policies/procedures and compliance with all regulatory requirements. Duties include, but are not limited to directing employees, making decisions that maximize the operation's performance, safety and cost metrics, and fosters strong associate work teams by creating and maintaining a positive work environment. Actively develop and promote open lines of communication to maintain and develop positive employee relations. Complete necessary documentation requested for tracking attendance, productivity, behavior and safety incidents and DOT regulations.
Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Monitor and enforce consistent application of all company rules, procedures, policies and D.O.T. Regulations. Train new drivers in accordance with company, federal and state regulatory requirements. Maintain driver qualification files, DOT hours of service and drug/alcohol testing records in an effective and efficient manner.
Maintain required documentation and files in compliance with all company guidelines and procedures for attendance, productivity, safety and sanitation. Perform necessary paperwork in a timely and professional manner. Ensure that office areas are neat, orderly and secure.
Daily review of People Net logs, Video Intelligence data, Validating Driver Payroll Sheets prior to payroll submission, Monitoring Freight Billing and Detention and review of Property/Fleet Damage
Daily execution of Dispatch/Red Dot Policy and Ensure proper use of DR/TMW
Communicate with Private Fleet Drivers regarding Dispatch expectations, performance results, and safety issues. Conduct Ride-A-Longs and provide feedback to individuals on their work methods, safe work habits and overall performance. Actively participate in the communication of general company information. Listen to and follow up on employee questions, requests and complaints with the expressed intent of maintaining a positive work environment. Conduct Scheduled Driver meetings, implement Driver Scorecard program
Provide after-hours coverage along with Other duties assigned as deemed necessary
Job Requirements
Relevant Experience, Education, Certification, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
High school diploma.
College degree in transportation or logistics preferred.
3 years distribution/transportation experience preferred.
Team management in a fast paced logistics environment.
Electronic driver logging (PeopleNet preferred).
Proven ability motivating and influencing a pro associate work force.
Flexibility to work changing shifts.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Strong command of Microsoft office products.
Automated routing and dispatch experience using TMW Direct Route or similar application preferred.
Physical Requirements
Some travel may be required, depending on assigned area
Must be able to bend, twist, kneel, squat, turn, reach, pull, push, balance and lift objects up to 85 pounds, in a fast-paced environment for extended period of time.
Must have the ability to stand, walk and move about for extended periods of time.
Must be able to stand and balance throughout the shift while operating industrial equipment.
