SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The purpose of this position is to maintain and repair water and/or wastewater facilities, equipment, projects, and grounds at various Brazos River Authority (BRA) locations. This is accomplished by performing preventative and corrective maintenance on equipment; maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and rebuilding pumps, motors, blowers, and plumbing; monitoring plant functions; repairing malfunctions or breakdowns on the plant equipment; and performing general and preventative maintenance on BRA buildings and grounds. Other responsibilities include maintaining, repairing, servicing, installing, and operating mechanical equipment; fabricating equipment; maintaining interior offices; performing grounds maintenance at facilities; providing input on budget expenditures; ordering supplies; assisting with general administrative functions; and performing any other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of methods, practices, and equipment used in all sections of wastewater and water treatment systems including activated sludge wastewater process, solids treatment, and energy recovery; materials, methods, and techniques used in construction, maintenance, and electrical repairs; vehicle maintenance and repair; and welding and pipe fitting; methods, practices, and equipment used in a wastewater laboratory; state and federal regulations regarding wastewater and water treatment; and basic knowledge of chemistry; and safety procedures and first aid training. Ability to read papers, periodicals, journals, manuals, dictionaries, thesauruses, and encyclopedias. Ability to deal with system of real numbers; practical application of fractions, percentages, ratios/proportions and measurement. Ability to write reports, prepare business letters, expositions, and summaries with proper format, punctuation, spelling, and grammar, using all parts of speech.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:
. High school graduation, or its equivalent, and four years of experience in general construction or maintenance; or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

WORK SCHEDULE AND LOCATION:
This position often works independently and will be not be assigned to any particular plant, rather will travel to locations throughout the basin to perform plant maintenance tasks as needed. A company vehicle will be provided for travel purposes. This position will require some rotating 24-hour on-call duty for emergency calls.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Current Texas driver's license and a good driving record are required. Class C wastewater or water certification preferred. Must be able to obtain Class D certification within 6 months of hire.
SALARY:
$16.78 to $21.39 per hour (depending on qualifications). This is a non-exempt position.
