Industrial Maintenance Mechanic

The DuPont Industrial Bioscience's plant in Martinez, CA currently has an opening for skilled industrial maintenance mechanics. The plant is a 24/7 high hazard operation dedicated to the production of sulfuric acid catalyst pellets.

Skilled Industrial Maintenance Mechanic:
Shift mechanics work rotating 12-hour day/evening shifts within a 4 days on 4 days off sequence. Additional shifts are required, as needed, to cover manpower shortages and other urgent needs.
The primary focus of the maintenance mechanic is to support the operations team by performing routine maintenance and setup tasks on equipment to aid in the safe and efficient production of product. Maintenance mechanics also complete assigned maintenance work orders and will be cross-trained to assist operations with some manufacturing tasks.
Basic work experience skillsets (Required):
General maintenance mechanical skills--troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, good attention to detail
Pneumatics
Power tools grinders, drills, saws, etc.
Lubrication systems
Good machining skills (lathe, mill, saws, etc.)
Solid foundational electrical knowledge
General metal fabrication
Operate forklift
Advanced Work Experience Skillsets (Preferred):
Welding (stick, TIG, and stainless)
Machine alignment
Pump rebuilds
Construction and/or inspection of scaffolding
Rigging and hoisting
MINIMUM EDUCATION /
Experience:
Minimum High School Diploma or equivalency required
Associates degree, trade certifications, or other relevant professional certifications preferred
Minimum 2 years of industrial plant maintenance experience with 5 or more preferred
Knowledge, skill, and ability to safely use maintenance tools and equipment
Excellent communication skills
Ability to read technical drawings and schematics
Good desktop computer (Microsoft office) skills
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Pass pre-employment medical and background screenings
Pass pre-employment job testing
Ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC)

Be able and willing to wear all PPE required for a high hazard, chemical industrial manufacturing environment and completion of maintenance work tasks
Be able and willing to wear a respirator both continuously or intermittently and throughout the shift
Be able to work up to 12 hours/day-at any time of day
Climb up and down staircases, ladders, and scaffolding on an hourly/daily basis to perform job tasks

While performing the duties of these jobs, the employee will work in an industrial, high hazard chemical manufacturing environment and is required to work both indoor and outdoor and is routinely exposed to outside weather conditions. During the normal course of work, the employee will work in and/or be exposed to confined spaces, heights, noise, vibration, dust, cold, heat, chemicals, gases, and substances under pressure.
