ER Technician

ER-7 at Northwest Hospital currently sees over 60,000 patients per year and has 49 beds. The department treats major and minor illnesses, typically related to cardiac and behavioral health. Additionally, ER-7 staff may provide care for orthopedic injuries or minor trauma. ER-7 has a rapid care area as well, designated for minor illnesses. Staff members of ER-7 are outgoing and positive, and must utilize strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status, and be able to effectively implement clinical nursing interventions to modify symptoms.
Functions under the supervision of the RN in a cooperative effort with the health care team to assist in providing a variety of patient care related duties. Maintains the standards of nursing care for all patients and implements the policies and procedures of the Emergency Department, Hospital, and Nursing Department.
Requirements:
Entry level knowledge; basic employment skills; High School diploma or GED equivalent; Less than one year experience; Basic computer skills; Medical terminology; Cardiac Arrhythmia Recognition; Orthopedic splinting skills; Phlebotomy/medlock insertion skills; CPR Certification; Cardiac Arrhythmia Recognition Test; Maryland Certified Nursing Assistant License.
