The primary role of the Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A.) is to protect, sustain, and nurture the residents that live at Orchard Cove. They provide assistance with activities of daily living, care of the resident's environment, and meet other needs as required. The goal of the work of the nursing assistant is to provide assistance that promotes a high quality of life for the residents. The nursing assistant works as a member of a team that seeks to achieve a home-like setting while maintaining excellence in all areas of care.
In addition, the C.N.A. will demonstrate a strong commitment to the philosophy and mission of Hebrew SeniorLife and recognize residents' dignity and choice in all aspects of daily life. They are an active participant in the activities, work, and social environment of the households, and strive to make every resident encounter into a positive and meaningful experience and opportunity, while ensuring the provision of safe and efficient quality care.
Responsibilities
Recognize and respond to the needs of the residents
Promote autonomy of residents in decision making
Report changes in the resident's condition to the clinical support team promptly
Assist residents with personal care functions including:
Dental and mouth care
Bathing
Dressing and grooming
Hair care
Nail care
Shaving
Bowel and bladder care
Provide care that promotes habilitation and wellness
Report accidents and incidents as they occur
Report any observed or suspected resident abuse immediately
Observe and report the presence of pressure areas to prevent ulcers
Meet with the clinical support team as scheduled or needed to discuss residents' needs and progress in identifying and correcting problems
Promote a no-manual lift environment
Measure and record vital signs, such as temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, and weight only as needed
Document findings and other aspects of care appropriately and promptly
Attend and participate in ongoing training and educational classes
Attend and participate in Household meetings
Maintain confidentiality and privacy of the resident
Communicate effectively with peers and other team members
Facilitate life enrichment activities that encourage resident engagement
Maintain cleanliness of the resident's room and common household areas by performing light housekeeping
Perform in various roles to coordinate the work of the household (communication coordinator, housekeeping, supplies, laundry etc.)
Participate in resident care plan meetings and ensure plan is followed
Completes special projects as assigned
Qualifications
Certified Nursing Assistant license
Fluent English skills required
Computer literacy required
Must have an optimistic and positive demeanor, excellent oral and written communication skills, good intuition and able to adapt to changing priorities and display good, sound judgment with a sense of humor
Must be motivated to learn and flexible to change
Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in an environment working with the elderly and/or disabled, preferably in the home care setting
Employee must successfully pass the CORI check as requested by Orchard Cove
Must attend mandatory in-services provided by Orchard Cove and periodic in-services in order to keep your license current
Employee must successfully pass the CORI check as requested by Orchard Cove
Ability to move around the EL area
Ability to occasionally move items up to 20 pounds.
Ability to push an occupied wheelchair

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
