Summary:
The fundamental purpose of the pharmacist is to serve UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland patients by ensuring the safe and age appropriate dosing, preparation, and use of medication.
Position Requirements:
Education: B.S or Pharm.D from an accredited school of pharmacy. Possesses knowledge and has experience with unit dose drug distribution and I.V. admixture service. Demonstrates commitment to professional self-improvement and continuing education.
Experience: Minimum of one year experience as a licensed hospital pharmacist. Pharmacy Practice Residency in a pediatric setting is preferred.
License/certification: Possession of a valid certificate of registration as a licentiate in pharmacy issued by the California State Board of Pharmacy. Active membership and participation in the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists and/or California Society of Hospital Pharmacists is desirable.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Understands various factors that influence drug absorption/ distribution/ metabolism and elimination in pediatrics, which requires knowledge of hepatic/ renal and body composition ontogeny. Has a knowledge of factors affecting drug distribution including physicochemical properties of the drug (lipid vs. water solubility), cardiac output, degree of protein/tissue binding and body composition. Calculates Body Surface Area and understands its importance for dosing chemotherapy in pediatrics. Understands the importance of weight based dosing and able to do pharmaceutical calculations on a daily basis. Keeps up-to-date on therapeutic uses and monitoring of drugs in pediatric population. Competent in doing thorough research and formulating conclusion on proper dosage and use of medications as they relate to a disease state. Understands the lack of appropriate commercially available dosage forms and concentrations of commonly used medications. Prepares IV's and antibiotic syringes following USP 797 policy. Follows IV quality control procedures. Has a thorough understanding of USP 797 and USP 795. Dosage calculations. Dosage-form selection. Specialized drug preparation and administration techniques. Understanding of PK/PD changes occurring with age. Understanding of disease-specific conditions affecting drug choice or dose. Understanding nature of medication errors in pediatric patients. Demonstrates an interest in the advancement of the pharmacy profession and in self-improvement. Must be able to learn to use EMR EPIC. Must be able to work with technology such as Acudose, EM 2400, Narcstation, and Robot Rx.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
