Staff Accountant (maternity cover)

The person will report to the Accounting Manager and will be part of the Italian accounting team.
She/he will be in charge of monthly accounting close activities, from preparation of journal entries to reconciliation of balance sheet accounts.
She/he will be also involved in monthly VAT declaration and payment and in the annual statutory financials statements preparation.
Core Responsibilities
Prepare journal entries and complete general ledger operations
Accrual and deferral monthly process
Reconcile and maintain balance sheet accounts
Review and process employees' expense reports
Fixed asset entries and depreciation process
Assist in monthly VAT tasks
Assist in preparation of annual statutory financial statements
Ensure accurate and timely monthly close process
Key Competencies
Understanding of financial reporting and general ledger structure
Knowledge of accounting principles and practices
Knowledge of local VAT requirements
Ability to analyze financial data
Problem analysis and problem solving skills
Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and previous experience of accounting software
English verbal and written communication
Attention to details and accuracy
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Business Administration
1-2 years accounting experience is preferred
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and experience with NetSuite is a plus
Understanding of IFRS is a plus
