Business Unit
Rexnord Gear is one of the largest Rexnord business units, and central to Rexnord's Power Transmission Segment (PT). PT is a highly respected $1b supplier of Industrial Bearings, Couplings, Gears, Modular Conveyor Belting, Industrial Chain and Conveyor Systems primarily serving a broad range of global industrial vertical markets (ex.:
including mining, aggregate/cement, wood/paper, food & grain and chemicals, among others) through three product-based operating units. These operating units leverage a shared PT sales organization and supply products to their served markets through distribution, and direct to the OEM and end-user. Products are primarily focused on high performance / value-added solutions. Brief Description
Maintenance mechanics maintain and repair a wide variety of complex industrial equipment in a production machining environment. The employee repairs and maintains machinery and production equipment, installs functional and structural parts within the facility, installs, removes and performs preventative maintenance on production equipment and machinery. The employee troubleshoots, tests, lubricates and cleans as required. The employee operates a wide variety of power, pneumatic and hand tools as well precision measuring devices and test equipment. The employee is trained cross functional in both mechanical and electrical trades.
Key Accountabilities
Repair and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment, such as motors, pumps, belts, fans, air conditioners, etc.
Disassemble machines and repair or replace broken parts.
Examine mechanical equipment to diagnose trouble.
Install or assist contractors in mechanical installation of new equipment
Adjust functional parts of mechanical devices as necessary.
Clean and lubricate parts.
Inspect complete repairs.
Order replacement parts, needed tools, and equipment.
Maintain and repair the building, such as welding, carpentry, plumbing, painting, etc.
Troubleshoot electrical breakdowns to find the source and repair the problem on a large variety of equipment including CNC machine controls.
Perform activities planned by others.
Communicate internally with contacts outside the work group to resolve issues and/or to collaborate on work procedures, including team projects.
Communicate with external contacts by telephone, writing, or in person for ongoing service, handling regular transactions and providing detailed information about a specific set of products, services, capabilities, issues, or questions.
Determine specific work methods that are defined and existing and carry out activities independently.
Serve as a resource to others in the resolution of complex problems and issues.
Maintain a clean and safe workplace in accordance with Rexnord policies, 5S procedures, and in line with Rexnord core values.
Job Requirements
4 or more years of experience in maintenance and a technical degree or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
Effectively communicate and work in a team environment.
Accurately read and comprehend moderately complex material (instruction manuals, procedural manuals, warning labels, electrical prints, ladder diagrams, blueprints, charts, technical repair manuals)
Ability to write to record basic information (prepare reports, record maintenance activities, completing forms, taking messages, etc.).
Knowledge of and ability to compute basic arithmetic skills such as, or comparable to:
add, subtract, multiply, and divide fractions and decimals.
Proficient knowledge in computer applications to produce basic/standard output (word processing, graphics, spreadsheets, standard or recurring reports, etc.).
Knowledge of and ability to design and build electrical circuits.
Proficient in CNC machine control functions and operations.
Proficient in hydraulic and pneumatic systems and components.
Knowledge, skill, and ability to troubleshoot electrical breakdowns to find the source and repair the problem on a large variety of equipment including CNC machine controls.
Knowledge of and ability to select and adjust appropriate tools, objects or materials to attain demanding standards in different work situations.
Knowledge of and ability to use tools or special devices to work, guide or move objects or materials. Start, stop, and control the actions of machines or equipment for which a course must be steered or guided in order to fabricate, process, or move objects.
Knowledge of and ability to solve unique problems that are diversified and involved. Judgment is required to adapt standard practices and principles to meet new conditions.
Ability to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish assigned tasks and goals.
Associate must provide a complete set of hand tools. Specialty tools will be supplied by Rexnord.
