Communications Spec 2
Under general supervision, plans, develops and implements a communications or outreach program, and/or public relations plan for an assigned agency, department, facility or function. Develops informational publications and presentations, and plans conferences and seminars for social or community outreach. As a team member or individually, participates in the development of conferences, instructive seminars, presentations and speeches for community and civic organizations and the general public. Designs, sharpens, and focuses the message pertaining to the agency, unit, and department and uses print and other media to communicate the message. Establishes and maintains a positive working relationship with area business community, internal and external agency customers, and other related contacts. Manages volunteer and other community outreach programs. May produce and distribute informational material in a variety of media. May support media relations posture by drafting press releases. Performs public relations activities to increase awareness of/participation in programs or services. Plans and coordinates conferences, meetings, and special events. Responds to routine inquiries about the organization by answering questions or directing them to the appropriate party; researches answers to questions.

Bachelor's degree in communications or a related field from an accredited college or university AND One year of communications or related experience OR Four years of communications or related experience OR One year of experience required at the lower level Communications Spec 1 (GSP040) or position equivalent.
