Overstock's senior developers are the technical backbone of our small, agile teams, usually 5-6 people strong. We strive to leverage the best technologies in the Java ecosystem, create forward-thinking and innovative software solutions for ecommerce problems, and empower every team member to push the envelope forward.
What we want to see:
- Experienced back-end or full-stack developer with at least 5 years in professional software development. Java preferred.
- Record of going beyond the minimum of rote corporate development, for example:
expertise in inner workings of technology used, engagement with the coding community, open source contributions, innovation, software craftspersonship, or past leadership experience. Show us the passion. - Strong analytical thinking, coding skills, problem-solving, and commitment to best practices
- Exceptional expertise in at least one programming skillset, such as performance tuning, architecting scalable systems, designing and refactoring for high code quality, working with big data, framework design, development process, or anything else you mastered to break through barriers in your past projects
- Ability and willingness to communicate clearly, assertively, and receptively with teammates, management, product owners, and people throughout the organization
Responsibilities:
- Design, create, enhance, and maintain Java applications, RESTful services, data pipelines, and data repositories that can handle Overstock's scale
- Devise technical solutions for business needs
- Write maintainable code
- Mentor and collaborate with teammates
- Learn, evaluate, and introduce new technologies and techniques

Education:
- Bachelor's Degree or better in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
