JOB SUMMARY
Performs layout, installation, and maintenance on a wide variety of complex electrical equipment such as automatic controls, generating equipment, paging systems, fire alarm and detection systems. Works on capital construction projects as primary responsibility.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Work from blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, sketches, written and/or verbal instructions in establishing and installing secondary distribution centers, balancing loads, and wiring circuits having a large number of units and connections.
- Perform repair of all electrical equipment and appliances, analyze problems, disassemble, repair or replace defective parts. Reassemble and test for proper operation and safety. Diagnose and remedy problems quickly to avoid shutdowns.
- Maintain mechanical equipment through repair.
- Maintain work records accurately.
- Broaden the depth of knowledge of the department by willingly sharing skills and knowledge with others.
- Perform security functions.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Understand and use scientific and technical language and symbols.
- Work precisely and accurately while following technical instructions which may be oral, written, or in charts or drawings.
- Ability to apply continuous mental and visual attention required on mechanical duties when constant alertness is required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
Experience
- Require current E-1 license issued by the State of Connecticut, Department of Consumer Protection, and Occupational Licenses Division.
- Healthcare experience preferred.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
