Less than high school. One to three years experience in quantity food preparation. Six months institutional cooking preferable
Summary:
Participates in general food preparation and cooking for large quantities for hospital patients, personnel, and visitors
Responsibilities:
Maintains established departmental type and quantities of meats, vegetables, soups, salads and desserts to be obtained and prepared.
Plans and coordinates cooking schedules, policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, and safety standards.
Previews menus and work orders to ensure that food will be ready at required times.
Uses a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment including grinders, slicers, mixers, and blenders. Operates dishwasher to ensure all dishes and utensils are clean.
Ensures that all food prepared meets existing standards for quality, freshness, taste, and appearance.
Maintains department records, reports, and files as required.
Participates in educational programs and inservice meetings.
Sets up and serves patient trays in accordance with established schedule and procedures.
