Job Description
The City of Saratoga Springs currently has an opening for an opening for a GIS Data Collector in the Public Works - Streets Department; this is a seasonal/internship position of approximately 40 hour a week. This position is under the specific supervision of the Assistant Public Works Director - Infrastructure and the Streets Supervisor and performs work pertaining to GPS data collection of Saratoga Springs City streets, storm drains, curbs, gutters, driveways, alleys, sidewalks and other Saratoga Springs City property.
Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Collect GPS data of existing and new infrastructure , including attributes (e.g. diameter of pipe, type of pipe, type of valve, size of valve, and joint type, etc.) and photos where applicable; infrastructure types include culinary & secondary water, sanitary sewer, storm drain, parks, and street lighting.
Coordinate with City Departments and development contractors to ensure data collection is completed for each project.
Operates light vehicles such as pickups.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
SCHEDULE AND NOTICES:
Approximately 40 hours a week, specific schedule to be set with the Supervisor upon hiring; students may apply to work a reduced work week while enrolled in school.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES:
Education &
Experience:
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Graduation from high school, or GED preferred.
Previous experience in related fields and able to demonstrate aptitude or ability to be trained and perform above or related duties is preferred.
Preference may be given to candidates either with an associate s degree in pre-engineering, geography, surveying or equivalent or enrolled in a similar program.
Certifications Required:
A valid Utah Driver s License.
First Aid and CPR Certification (ability to obtain).
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Demonstrate the ability to follow City policies and procedures.
Knowledge of the principles and practices of GPS data collection.
Ability to maintain records and task lists.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others (i.e. employees, volunteers, and the general public).
Ability to understand and follow oral instructions.
